「KASHIMA 2014」別府に起きる空想の世界 THE RISING IMAGINATION IN BEPPU

＜制作を開始してから＞

今回アイリの作品は一般的な館内展示と違い、建物の外側にある壁に展示されます。

コーディネーターであるBEPPU PROJECT のスタッフは時間をかけて入念に町をリサーチし、アイリにおすすめの展示場所を提案しました。そしてアイリはその場所が巨大な壁であるにもかかわらず、別府の繁華街の中で隠れた秘密の場所にあることをとても気に入ったのです。

Starting the creation...

Since the artwork will be presented outside on a wall of a building in Beppu city downtown, BEPPU PROJECT staff gave some advice to Aili about where she could present the artwork. Aili felt immediately in love with the place where she will present her artwork. She likes the fact that it is a pretty large wall, but it is located in a very secret and hidden place in Beppu downtown.  

アイリは別府の繁華街は、買い物をするのにもってこいの場所であるのと同時に、路地に入ると簡単に迷子になってしまう雰囲気が好きになりました。路上でたくさんの猫が遊んでいる様子を見つけ、その場所は静けさの中に歴史の面影があり、街自体が生き生きとしていると感じました。

She likes the atmosphere of the place. Indeed even in the bustling shopping streets of Beppu downtown, it is very easy to loose yourself in a small path and find quiet spots, with lot of cats. Some places are very quiet, but still vibrating with history.

別府で新しい壁画作品を作るために、アイリは別府の自然の中へ作品の素材を集めに行きました。初めに彼女は朝見神社の近所にある林の中を散策し、別府の遊園地ラクテンチの隣にある竹林の中を練り歩きました。そこへ訪れた時、その竹林は想像以上に自然の力があり、人類には開かれていないと感じたので、深く踏み入れることができませんでした。それから彼女は場所を変え、市役所の近くにある別府公園へと歩いて行くと、その場所は人々に開かれており足を踏み入れやすいと感じました。彼女は毎日のように公園を訪れ、地面に落ちている枯れた枝や木の実や葉っぱなどを拾い集めているのです。

To create the new artwork in Beppu, Aili will collect natural elements that will compose an image. To collect these elements, Aili needs to look for them in the natural environment of Beppu. At first, she had a little walk in the forest nearby Asami shrine and in the bamboo forest next to Rakutenchi Amusement park. However, she thought that she could not touched these areas because they are too deep and not opened to human beings. Then, she walked in Beppu park near the city hall and she thought it was a good place, opened, easy to walk in. So she went several times and looked on the ground to see fallen branches, fallen fruits and leaves that she could collect for the artwork.
