Silvain and Christophe founded Arte Radio, a creative online media. During their residence in Beppu, they imagined a radio journey accross the city, taking sounds from the environment and recording plurality of voices. The sound journey is available for listening online on an interactive map and for downloading to take away for a walk in Beppu! The soundwalk is not an audioguide, you can stop, start again or loose yourself during the listening. However, some sounds and stories have been made depending on where you are during the walk. The artists has driven a lot of interviews of inhabitants to get to know better the city, the culture, etc. Silvain Gire, Editor-in-chief of Arte radio, has written a fictional story about Beppu. Christophe Rault has recorded, mixed and edited the sounds. Fascinating sounds, surprising voices and talks have been recorded and kept as a memory. The artists have been fully imprinted by what they saw and experienced in beppu. The soundwalk is a way for the audience to experience their turn the sounds through fiction, intimate stories, funny and poetic images, while listening quietly at home or walking through Beppu city.

A different icon on the map represents the listening points. 別府の人々の写真と風景が詩的に融合する絵画作品を制作します。
彼らが別府の町を歩き、体験し、あらゆる角度から切り取った別府。
巨大なものから小さなものまで、町を歩けばあちこちで彼らの作品に出会えます。

When Spring time came, the visual art work blossomed. The outdoor buildings'walls and windows welcome
"Paper-Graffiti, a course of Evanescence", paper graffiti and stickers made by Elodie Dornand and Seung-Hwan
Oh. The paper art work that was representing dreamlike drawings made with paper and meant to be affected by
passing time, weather condition or other natural elements. The sticker, pasted in some onsen places, were
made under the shape of a web as a symbol of the social link that these places are representing. The visual
artists, Elodie and Seung-Hwan, deliberately chose not to impose using strong colors for instance in the graffiti,
but a pastel tone to give a fade image as an old picture. Thus the drawings are almost merging with the city,
delivering intense and poetic images with a subtle delicateness. Artists created projects during this residency
that are at the same time ephemeral and everlasting. The visual art project was conceived as an art work that
was created and managed by artists at first, but then left under the control of natural elements. However the
stickers are remaining on the windows on four onsen places and two paper-Graffiti will last as long as the nature
allows it.
