We have selected two artists for the KASHIMA 2014 BEPPU ARTIST IN RESIDENCE program that will take place from November to December 2014:

- Ms Aili ZHANG (China) (confirmed)

- Ms Agathe DE BAILLIENCOURT (France)

(Due to an agenda matter the participation of the artist, Mr Norbert ATTARD (Malta), has been cancelled).

We would like to thank you all the artists who have interest in our residence program and who have applied. We received 374 applications from all over the world. Reviewing all the applications, we gave priority to applications that corresponded to the residence's criteria. We proceeded to a three-steps selection; first selection of 30 projects, second selection of 10 projects and then we took the final decision to select 2 artists with a selection team composed by Mr Jun'ya Yamaide, Executive Director of the NPO BEPPU PROJECT and Ms Marianne Bevand, artist-in-residence program coordinator.

Due to the amount of applications, we apologize for not replying to each individual artists, but instead we are making this announce on our website. We wish to all the artists a great success in their projects. 

We are looking forward to seeing the artists in residence's art creations emerging in Beppu city with strength, power and beauty as suggested with the invocation-like theme "FANTASTIC, MAGIC, WONDERFUL BEPPU!".
